Error 117 with blinkbox

Asked by Simon Geard

I've successfully installed pipelight - the silverlight bounding balls work with both 5.0 and 5.1. The system check now passes okay (although I had to create a symlink /lib64/libnetapi.so -> libnetapi.so.0).

I tried to watch my movies on blinkbox (http://www.blinkbox.com ) but when I do I get, after 'loading' and 'getting licence' I get Error code: 117. This is what the blinkbox page says:

What does error 117 mean?

Error 117 means that we’ve not been able to get a secure connection between the video player and your output device (this is a geeky way to say your computer monitor). Normally, updating your graphics card drivers and Windows to the latest version will fix this. Your computer’s manufacturer will be able to help you with all the details.

Is this a pipelight problem? Has anyone successfully used pipelight with blinkbox? Thanks.

Hi,

blinkbox requires a secure connection between your graphic card and your screen. Most modern graphic cards support HDCP, but none of the linux drivers make use of it and you therefore can not fulfill this requirement. For legal reasons we can not fake that your system supports HDCP and you won't be able to use this service with pipelight as long as they require HDCP.
