Hi,

You submitted this question to the Pipelight question tracker, but you refer to Netflix-Desktop. Netflix-Desktop and Pipelight are two separate projects. Both can be used to watch Netflix, but you should first understand the differences: While Pipelight allows to watch Netflix in your regular browser, Netflix-Desktop requires you to start some special browser instead, and enables Silverlight only there. As Netflix-Desktop runs the whole browser in Wine, and not just the plugin itself, it will probably be a bit slower than using Pipelight.

If you want to use Netflix-Desktop: I don't think that there are up-to-date packages for Debian Wheezy, so it will probably be a bit complicated. It should be relatively easy to compile it yourself, but I don't think there are any instructions available, so it might be a bit difficult if you're not experienced with compiling software. If you really want to use Netflix-Desktop, please provide some more details about what you already tried out (preferrably at https://launchpad.net/netflix-desktop, since its not related to Pipelight): Which instructions did you follow and how did you install it? What happens when you start it from a terminal (if you have a huge log the recommended way is to share it on http://pastebin.com for example)? Have you already tried deleting ~/.wine-browser, this often helps if something doesn't work?

If you want to use Pipelight:

* First install it according to these instructions: http://pipelight.net/cms/install/installation-debian.html

* Afterwards enable the plugins you want to use. For Netflix you need to enable Silverlight:
sudo pipelight-plugin --enable silverlight5.1

* You will also need to install a user agent switcher for your browser to make Netflix think you're using Windows. Please take a look here: http://pipelight.net/cms/installation-user-agent.html [IMPORTANT: Please note that Chrome >= 35 doesn't allow external plugins like Pipelight anymore, the easiest way is to use a different browser like for example Firefox to watch Netflix.]

If it still doesn't work afterwards: Please check the following ideas to find the mistake:

* Make sure that Silverlight is really enabled
pipelight-plugin --list-enabled-all

* Visit the diagnostic page
http://fds-team.de/pipelight

* Run the system-check tool:
pipelight-plugin --system-check
This can help to find common issues as described here: http://pipelight.net/cms/faqs/faq-most-common-problems.html

If you're unsure how to interpret the results of the tests above, just attach the output by uploading it to http://pastebin.com and give us the link.

Regards,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian:

First I have to THANK YOU :) for the explination of the diffrence, as I
thought all was required and related, had NO idea of a diffrence.

Okay, so since I did all the installation of pipeline prior to posting the
question, so I just used the current user agent in Firefox (Windows/Firefox
29) - set my browser to Netflix and WOW it works without a problem.

I think the issue was I did not understand that there was a diffence
between the instructions.

Sebastian, thank you issue is resolved :) and yes, I do need Netfilx :)

Muller:

I was trying the pipeline install on a diffrent machine and got this issue:

Install seams like it went nicely, logged into Netflix with Firefox &
useragent but screen is black - no sound no video?

Any ideas?
