Sound Issues with Unityweb plugin

Asked by MarkB

Hi,

I am trying to run the Guitarbots web app through Pipelight and Google-Chrome.

The app recognises the agent switcher and successfully launches but then i get a message from the app saying 'grant access to the microphone'

I cant get past this issue - the audio is fine for audio playback and running jack I can play the guitar as normal.

I'm running Ubuntu Studio 12.04 Fully updated new install with Google-Chrome and Pipelight with Shockwave / Flash and Unity plugins switched on.

I know audio i a bit of a black art in Linux but I have the basics running fine.

It would be truly awesome If I could run this app on my linux pc - Any suggestions ?

Ps - Pls be gently I'm a Linux Noob : )

Hi,

please follow https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2517 and show us the debug output when trying to use the microphone with Unity.

Hi,

sorry for the late answer, but we were at the LinuxTag2014 and didn't had so much time to answers bug reports. Your log does not contain any obvious problems or errors. Please create a new log with some more debug information about audio:

WINEDEBUG=+devenum,+qcap,+winmm,+dshow,+mciwave firefox &>> pipelight-mic.log

Feel free to replace firefox with a different browser.

Hi,

I just signed up for an account at this website and was able to get it to work. When you start up the Unity application, you will get the error message you described, but in front of it, there should be a dialog which asks you for the permission. For some reason the text is missing and you will only see a warning sign and 3 small buttons. You can view the original dialog here: http://forum.unity3d.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=43836&stc=1&d=1359554561

The button at the right end is "allow" and should get you past this error. After this, I had to go to the settings and select the right input device and it correctly showed the input level of my microphone. I do not have any guitar for testing, but I assume that the rest should work.
