Hi,

I just registered an account, but it seems that they are currently having some problems. When I try to watch a program, I get the error: "It seems that you haven't finished the registration flow. Click here to subscribe to packages." and this redirects me to a page which just shows "Thanks for signing up!". The reason seems to be that the SMS verification was skipped during my registration and I do not see any way to force it, some other people seem to have the same issue.

I hope they rule this problem out, so that I can test it on my own soon. In the mean time I can only suggest you to take a look at the common problems section https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2485 since I do not see any direct error in your log. There are some typical problems with for example some browser extension, so please try to check this list so that we are sure it is really a bug.

Hi Michael,

I tried with a blank FF profile but it is exactly the same.

If you like, I can give you access via my account, no problem. Just tell me where to send the login infos.

Regards,
Robert

Hi Robert,

I just registered an account for testing purposes, and from germany everything works well out of the box:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21447213/pipelight-magine.png

From which country do you try to access magine.com ? Either they use a slightly different system for other countries (which is rather unlikely), or there is something wrong with your pipelight installation or settings.

I would suggest to try out the following ideas:

.

* Maybe the service is similar to Amazon Instant, which also requires that the wininet - override is disabled (seems like you accepted the license during the Silverlight installation process). To disable it again just run (while all browsers are closed):

rm ~/.config/wine-wininet-installer.accept-license
rm -rf ~/.wine-pipelight

Afterwards start the browser again to reinstall Silverlight, then test.

.

* You didn't provide any information about your user agent switcher. Please make sure that you select a Windows user agent string, for example Firefox 15. See here for some more details: https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2351

Please note that with Pipelight < 0.2.6 only very few combinations of user agent strings worked well. Since 0.2.6 this is less strict, and you can also select for example also the Windows version of Chrome (this was also the UA in the screenshot above):

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/32.0.1667.0 Safari/537.36

.

* Pipelight/wine-compholio requires extended file attributes in order to work properly. If you're testing for example with a Boot CD this will not work, because most temporary file systems (like tmpfs, rootfs) have these file attributes disabled by default. Even if you're not using a Boot CD, it might be possible that you have no extended attributes, depending on which (rare) file system you use.

The following command can be used for a quick check if XATTR works properly (should display "It works!"):

touch ~/.xattr_test && setfattr -n 'user.testAttr' -v 'attribute value' ~/.xattr_test &> /dev/null; getfattr ~/.xattr_test 2>&1 | grep -q user.testAttr && echo 'It works!' || echo 'No workie!'; rm ~/.xattr_test &> /dev/null

.

I hope these ideas help to track down the issue - please report back if you need some more ideas what you can try out ;-)

Regards,
Sebastian

Hi Michael,

the 2 rm's are the solution! I removed the files and now it is working.

(I am very new to this Silverlight thing, so I was not aware that this might cause a problem. Maybe you could add this to your FAQs.)

Tnx for your great support,
Robert
