problem initializing plug-in

Asked by Duncan Pinto

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get this plug-in to work. It works perfectly with Peppermint Linux 3 on my EEE 701, but I cannot seem to get it to run on my Dell X300.

Here's the output I get from the plug-in when running Chromium from the terminal. FYI, I have user agent setup, and have performed a fresh install of peppermint and pipelight, as well as performed the "rm -rf ~/.wine-pipelight" command as a confirmation that it's all clean.

Any input would be helpful, as well as if you need any output, please insure you are providing me with the appropriate commands as I'm not overly terminal savvy and am learning my way around:

Hi,

the following line in your debug output looks suspicious:

intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error

and suggests that there is something wrong with your graphic card drivers. This problem most likely doesn't affect only Pipelight, but would also affect other applications that try to use the GPU.

I would suggest you to try it out with GPU acceleration disabled. To do this just close all other chromium windows, then run from a terminal:

PIPELIGHT_GPUACCELERATION=0 chromium-browser

I would assume that everything works then (if not, please report back with a new log). To fix this problem permanently you can either try to update your drivers, or alternatively disable GPU acceleration if you don't notice any performance problems without it.

To disable GPU acceleration permanently just run:

/usr/share/pipelight/scripts/configure-silverlight

And then type "disable" and "abort".

Sebastian

Thanks for the very prompt response Sebastian. That was the problem... I was looking at the outputs and knew something was amiss but I didn't know how to solve it until your perfectly accurate answer. Seems that I'm running off Mesa 1.3 OpenGL drivers... it's a big pain to see if there's any updates to them at this time (maybe they are too old) but your solution works perfectly for any non-HD netflix videos. HD is too much for the CPU to process (it's only a 1.4 Ghz Pentium with 1 GB ram).

Thank you and everyone on the pipelight team for the excellent work and support.

much love,
D
