unity3d plugin installer can't download files

I certainly have connection.

Perhaps it would be best if a user would have to point to unity web player installer which he downloaded himself?

Hi,

the problem is that in your version of Pipelight the version database is outdated.

To update the version database between the individual releases of Pipelight you can run:
sudo pipelight-plugin --update

For Firefox it might sometimes be necessary to run additionally:
sudo pipelight-plugin --create-mozilla-plugins
to clear the plugin cache, if the error is cached.

Afterwards everything should work.
