Bubblemark animation test failed - Ubuntu 13.10

Asked by FZ

Hello,
I have installed pipelight according to the instructions in the overview.
Browser: Chrome
UA Spoofer installed - settings Firefox 15
pipeline plugin enabled, silverlight 5.1 enabled, flash enabled, shockwave test at adobe site successful.

The animation test bubblmark.com is just showing a blank screen.

Does anyone have any idea what the prolem might be?
I want to use a german video on demand service: watchever. If I want to play a movie, it just shows a blank black rectangle.

I am totally new to Ubuntu (Linux). Please consider this in your answers. ;-)
Thank you very much in advance!

Hi,

it sounds like you've not yet accepted the license agreement of the mscorefonts. I've linked the corresponding FAQ that describes how to enable it (normally the dialog should be shown during the installation). Without these fonts Silverlight will not load up properly and just show an empty rectangle, as in your case.

If this is not the issue we would need some additional information, like for example:

* which distribution are you using?
* does the diagnostic site show any error? http://fds-team.de/pipelight
* do you see the popup menu when right clicking on the area where the Silverlight plugin should be?

By the way: Please note that most browsers will only load Pipelight Flash when all other flash plugins have been disabled / uninstalled. In Chrome you can open about:plugins, then click on Details, and then disable all other Linux flash plugins, until only pipelight Flash is remaining (you can easily distinguish by the library name libpipelight-flash.so).

FAQ #2441: “Silverlight shows just a blank screen (or Netflix error 1001)”.

Hello Sebastian,
thanks for your reply.

I've already checked the related post but that didn't solve my problem.

* I've checked the lic. agreement and it is accepted.
* Ubuntu 13.10
* No errors on the diagnostic site
* yes, there is a popup menu (slverlight, pipelight, embed, etc.)
* I have disabled all other flash plugins.

Still the bubblemark aniamtion test isn't working.

Hi,

hm, thats very weird. Here are some additional suggestions:

1) To ensure that the fonts are installed properly (maybe the previous installation went wrong?), please run this command (and retry):
sudo apt-get install --reinstall ttf-mscorefonts-installer

2) If the problem is still there please open the bubblemark page and right click on the Silverlight window. Unselect "Embed into browser" and refresh the page. You should now see a separate window showing the Silverlight content. Does the problem still occur then?

3) Close all browser windows first, and then start chromium-browser or google-chrome with:
PIPELIGHT_GPUACCELERATION=0 google-chrome
(all in one line)

4) If all that doesn't help, I would recommend you to join our channel #pipelight on IRC freenode. If you don't have any IRC client installed you can also use for example this webchat (but better use a different browser, since you probably might have to restart chrome while doing some additional tests): http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23pipelight

Sebastian,

reinstalling mscoefronts did the trick. It had ben my own fault. I didn't know you had to press TAB and then ENTER to accept.
I had only pressed ENTER during the first installation.
Did it correctly this time and it' s working fine now! Thanks a million!!!!
Solved.
