netflix wants me to upgrade to the latest version of silverlight

Hi,

when you've installed the package "pipelight", it will automatically enable the latest available Silverlight version 5.1 which is currently available. For "pipelight-multi" you should have enabled the latest Silverlight version manually after the installation.

I would recommend to check which versions of Silverlight are enabled:
sudo pipelight-plugin --list-enabled

If there are multiple Silverlight versions enabled, just disable the old ones, until only "silverlight5.1" is remaining, for example:
sudo pipelight-plugin --disable silverlight5.0

You should also do the same without "sudo", as its also possible to enable plugins on a per-user-basis.

A second possibility is that you've Moonlight installed, which is preferred by the browser in some cases. To ensure that this is not the case open "about:plugins" (in Chrome you've to click on "Details" to see if multiple plugins are installed) and check if there are somewhere mulitple versions of Silverlight/Moonlight. We recommend to uninstall Moonlight if this is the reason, as many browser don't allow to disable individual plugins.
