Fonts changed after installation

Hello!

I just installed pipelight in openSUSE 12.3, and everything seems to work fine for viewing Netflix, which is what I wanted to accomplish. However, in both Chrome and Firefox, my fonts have changed. Is this expected behavior? I'd like to get them back to the way they were, and changing the fonts manually doesn't seem to have any affect. Is there a different setting somewhere that will allow websites to set their own fonts?

Hi,

that some fonts are installed is an expected behaviour, but I wouldn't expect them to be used on webpages.
Silverlight expects the Microsoft fonts to be installed (as they are installed by default on every Windows operating system), thats why they are one of the dependencies. It isn't really possible to use Silverlight without any fonts at all, but it might probably be possible to replace them with other fonts.

On which page does the problem occur exactly? I assume the problem with wrong fonts on webpages occurs because the website developers referred to microsoft font names, which weren't there before the installation, and are now used.

Some systems also have options to define a font priority - this could also help in case some of the Microsoft fonts have the same name as your other ones.

Hello!

They appear to be different on every single site I visit. Examples are facebook and reddit. In google chrome, even the fonts of hangouts conversations have changed. The font it's changed to feels more like a Linux font than a Windows font.
