Asked by J Powers

I have been unsuccessful in every attempt to make streampix work on linux. I am running linux mint 15. Does anyone have or working on a solution to be able to view streampix content from comcast's xfinitytv site? please help if possible.

Hi,

sorry for the late answer, but I don't live in the US and was also unable to find someone else with a subscription for this service. I can not say for sure that it works with this service, but it may also be possible that your user agent switcher is not properly configured. Did you try to use Pipelight with another VOD service like Netflix and does http://fds-team.de/pipelight/ show everything as okay ? It may also possible that this service works only with Silverlight 5.0 with Pipelight like for example BT Sports or SkyGo. Take a look at https://answers.launchpad.net/pipelight/+faq/2358 how to change the Silverlight version.

Thank you. I did not have the user agent switcher installer installed. I resolved that issue. I know that requires a Silverlight 5.1 version installed, not sure what minimum build is required (already have 5.1 installed). Might be able to cross check against a windows box. Still not having any luck. Is there a way to update the build version of Silverlight? I will post anything additional that I can find.

I tried addressing a few of the additional differences. I switched over to IPv4 and tried all of the different user agent switcher options. I am guessing that Comcast must be flagging on OS unless it is picking up something on the Silverlight. Looks like a dead end :(

Hi,

since I can't test it on my own, it may be better that you join our IRC channel #pipelight on Freenode, for example via this webchat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23pipelight so that we can help you do some tests to find out the real issue.

We were able to help him via IRC and solved the problem. The real issue was that the website didn't require Silverlight for the targeted videos but instead a windows version of Flash was required. After following the instructions for the experimental flash support at https://launchpad.net/pipelight/+announcement/11996 the videos worked.
