phpBB3 Chat MOD

Question: Can this chat link to IRC?

I have a IRC channel and I want to add a chat site from my forum to it. Is this suiteble for that?

I can link to the rrm3 channel on freenode by using the URL [irc://irc.freenode.net/#rrm3]. When I click on the link from firefox, the channel opens up in my pidgin chat window.

No, phpBB3 Chat can't be used as IRC client, because writing IRC client in plain JS is AFAIK impossible, and writing it with PHP will kill every server.
