Question Regarding Bug 1566642 (SERVER_UUID)

Asked by Dennis Wixted

While researching a problem I encountered with replication from a MySQL 5.5 master to a Percona Server 5.7.20-19 slave, I came across a "bug" which has reportedly been fixed in version 5.7.13 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/percona-server/+bug/1566642 - "Unknown system variable 'SERVER_UUID' on master.").

I have encountered this same bug with 5.7.20-19. Is it likely that this bug has re-emerged?
I apologize, as I am new to this site and relatively new to MySQL / Percona Server.
I appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank you.

Sometimes what happens is that developers miss a code path and so a bug may still been seen in certain cases. Not saying it is the case here, but it could be. First step would be to try and reproduce and make a testcase, then log a new bug (on jira.percona.com - we have moved our bug tracker) and point to the old bug report (also migrated to JIRA) i.e. https://jira.percona.com/browse/PS-2143. On the old bug report (https://jira.percona.com/browse/PS-2143) also make a link to the new one for reference. If you cannot reproduce it may still make sense to log the ticket in a similar way, but it may not go anywhere unless someone is able to reproduce it and create a testcase. Thank you!
