Terminal, my password dont work

Hello all. Maybe i have a bug on my terminal, well. Im trying to install the flash player to watch some movies on youtube with this code:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer

But, then he says to insert my password, and, when i write the password, nothing happens... and i don't know why... :s
And, when i try dont download the portuguese "patch" to translate my elementary os, nothing works too... Can someone help me?

That is normal behaviour for entering a password in the terminal, no characters will appear, but you are typing it! Just type your password, and press enter.

Can you help with this problem?
