How do you preview jpeg files?

When a folder contains png files, I see a preview of the image, but not so for jepg files. Instead I just see a standard icon. How can I enable previews for jpeg files too?

In Freya I find that my jpeg files are thumbnailed OK. Do you find they are never thumbnailed or only under some circumstances or some sizes?

You should also be able to get a preview by bringing up the context menu and selecting "Properties". Image files should have a "Preview" tab in the Properties window.

Today, no image files were previewing until I restarted pantheon-files, now all format show a preview. Very strange.
