How to add Format drive?

Is there a way to add the Format, Safely remove drive options to files? will installing palimpsest do the trick? Is there a plan to add these features in the near future?

For safely remove you just press on eject button near usb drive in files

I don not know how to add a format command, but I use Disks (from Software Center) for any drive related activity (format, backup, partitioning etc)
