aPreambleLength + aPLCPHeaderLength

Asked by Mohammad Siddique

Hi,

According to IEEE 802.11a-1999, aPreambleLength = 20 us and aPLCPHeaderLength = 4 us for 20MHz channel bandwidth.
According to IEEE 802.11-2007, aPreambleLength = 16 us and aPLCPHeaderLength = 4 us for 20MHz channel bandwidth.

As far I understand in openwns wifimac, second one is implemented for Frame duration calculation. Isn't it?

* In WARP2, first one was considered; which make me curious.

Kind regards,
M Siddique

Well... this is a little bit unspecific :-)
I would rather say
OFDM PHY @ 5GHz:
aPreambleLength=16us, aPLCPHeaderLength=4us (Table 17-15)

OFDM PHY @ 2.4GHz:
aPreambleLength=20us, aPLCPHeaderLength=4us (Table 19-7)

This should also answer you section question, right?

Sebastian
