Your file has probably wrong encoding. Try to google up "402: Subtitle has invalid format." - it will point you to discussions regarding the issue.

In other words - this is not issue raised by the OpenSubDownloader but by OpenSubtitles.com - the server rejected your subtitle file.

Thanks
Meanwhile i realized that this error occurred because my subtitles encoding was "ANSI".
So i changed them to "UTF8" and my problem solved.

I have the same problem, but my file is encoded in utf-8:

This is in Linux:

Princess.Toyotomi.2011.DVDRip.x264.AC3-ZERO-EN-utf8.srt: UTF-8 Unicode (with BOM) English text, with CRLF line terminators
Princess.Toyotomi.2011.DVDRip.x264.AC3-ZERO-EN-utf8-2.srt: UTF-8 Unicode English text, with CRLF line terminators
P

I have tried saving the file as utf-8 in Windows Notepad, with the same result.

What could be wrong here?
