I cannot help you with this issue. I am a developer of the software, downloads are provided by Launchpad platform. Anyways the problem is probably somewhere on your side, because when I tried to download files and it worked. Check your internet connection, firewall, internet provider, internet browser...

That´s exactly what I meant ; )

But after few tries I finally managed to download some subtitles but it´s like it only works sometimes not always.

When it doesn´t work I keep getting the window "Downloading..." but nothing happens.

Well I also sometimes experience problems - when I start OpenSubdownloader I cannot log in to opensubtitles.org and therefore cannot search for subtitles. It is because the site is sometimes overloaded so you need to try it sometime later.

But I´m always logged in when I experience this.

Even though sometimes having this problem I´m really happy with this program - it saves me a lot of time.

Thanks alot!

That's because the API for downloading subtitles from opensubtitles has changed.

Host for API definitely changed
Posted on March 12th, 2010 by allplayer

Hi everybody,

today we decided to definitely change the host for API requests (XML-RPC) to api.opensubtitles.org. In other words - this means some outdated programs, which works with old host (www.opensubtitles.org) won’t work anymore. This change is done because we need to put API requests on different servers in easy way. So, if your program doesn’t work, try to go to preferences, and set the API XML-RPC URL path to http://api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc

I wrote about this change in july 2009, changes was done on trac around 5 months ago and I sent mail to program developers around 2 weeks ago, so I believe, everything will be OK :)

We are working hard on adding next server, because in peak times, there is really bad response time. Also there will be some small ads in subtitles itself to monetize API traffic for common users.

Can you help with this problem?
