Status Update?

Asked by Mike Rowley

Just touching base to see the status of this project, I have noticed there hasn't been anything changed since 2012-06-11 and wanted to know the current status of development etc?

I am currently integrating OpenSplash into our signage system and intend to roll this out to a number of screens throughout the next 6 months.

Is there any future development plans?

Thanks
M

Hi Mike,

Yes, the project is still active, although we haven't made an update to the trunk for some time.

However we are working on a SMIL implementation which we hope to be ready by the summer.

We are also still persuing improving documentation and providing more examples, but it has been a challenge recently to grab the skilled developer resources necessary for moving this on. As most of those involved work for smaller organisations and are inevitably busy, it has been difficult to secure enough voluntary time from them. This situation should be improving over the next two months, as people have committed to spend some time on this.

Cheers

Andrew

Mike -

At Silver Curve we already have a SMIL integrated version of OpenSplash
which has been tested on Windows and Linux. Our client in Israel used it
for a year or so before succumbing to the god of ad-funded networks.

We are also working with hardware companies to build ARM based players
which will start shipping in mid June. You can see a demo of one of them
(MediaVue D1) at www.mediavuesystems.com. This player will ship with the
option of an OpenSplash player with A-SMIL integration embedded in the
software image, retailing at $400 MSRP.

Silver Curve offers consultancy and software development services around
the OpenSplash platform amongst other signage expertise.

Please get in touch if you need more information.
