snapping does not seem to work

Asked by dstotz

behavior when moving clips in the timeline seems to be the same whether or not snapping is selected. Clips will not snap together and transitions do not snap to the ends of clips, making alignment difficult.

Hello dstotz,

The snapping only works at very close range. Therefore you might find you have to zoom in on the timeline to show a larger scale.

If snapping works at too great a range it can make editing extremely difficult if you have clips on adjacent tracks very close to each other.

My recommendation for accurate placing of clips (the way I do it) is to zoom into the "1sec" level and frame-step the cursor with the > and < arrow keys to get to the points where I want to place clips, and then set a marker at that point using the set ot tools just above the timeline.

I am converting this bug report to a question.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks, Helen McCall

Hello dstotz,

I have tested out the most recent versions and they are all snapping correctly.

Best wishes, Helen McCall
