Using GtkBuilder and native icons instead of libglade

Asked by moimael

Hi,

I like your project, that's why i've read the source code, to see the technical side of this app.

That's not really a "bug".

I found strange that you use libglade (who is being to be deprecated) whereas Gtkbuilder is inclued into GTK and more powerfull.

And in order to have a better integration, maybe you should use native system icons (with gtk_STOCK) instead of the glossy one who remember Windows :s

Thanks, you do a great work !

Hello moimael,

I have converted this bug report to a question because, as you say, it is not really a bug report.

Many thanks for your comments.

At present we are fully engaged in getting the first beta release ready. And so there are a number of issues like this which are being put on the side for the moment until the first beta is released.

Jonathan has mentioned looking at converting to GTK because of the shortcomings of glade. He used glade initially because it offered him a quick way to get things up and running.

Best wishes, Helen McCall

Hi,

You know you can use gtkbuilder with glade ? but i saw that Jonathan uses glade 3.4 and gtkbuilder is only in 3.6. I am personnaly using glade 3.6.7 with Gtkbuilder without any shortcomings (some things are hidden).

But thanks for your answer :D

Many thanks for your comments.

I don't think Jonathan wants to upgrade glade until OpenShot is in a beta release at least.

how about the icons? I think it is a good idea to use the gtk stock icons, because a great deal of people use different themes, and they all like all their applications to comply with their desktop (including me :) )

Can you help with this problem?
