No audio on whole laptop when running OpenShot.

I have been using OpenShot for three or four weeks on an old 4GB Dell laptop, with very slow and jerky editing process. Have now got Windows10 on new 8GB laptop, however, when I run OpenShot there is no audio on OpenShot timeline or preview and it stops all other audio output such as Youtube. have to close OpenShot and restart YouTube or whichever audio file I was using.
I am not computer savvy but have looked at internet and found no help..someone did say make sure you have the eye and loudspeaker symbols on the OpenShot 'home' page but I cannot see them even on the old laptop which runs all audio fine but has not these symbols either.
Please help. I am very behind with and more than several quid down because of this video project and consequently not a happy bunny!
