how do you block or clip a portion of the video frame?

Asked by David Ecklein

I would like to use OpenShot to block or mask out uploader's watermarks on a video downloaded from youtube. If possible, how do I do this? The watermark stays on the film in the same location throughout the film and is very annoying. I don't know why uploaders stick their watermarks on public domain films - it is like drawing a mustasche on the Mona Lisa.

There may or may not be a way of blocking or masking out with the OpenShot editor. But I found that you can use HandBrake, another "free" tool, to do cropping, with which in my case I was able to get rid of the watermark. Use the "picture settings" tab to find the cropping feature. You will have to experiment to get the effect you want. Just thought this information might help someone else.
