openshot 1.4.3 constantly crashes on my Mint 17 machine

ihave an ati video driver. Looked up driver issues on windows about mint, nothing. Openshot will crash mostoften when i use the pointer or the scissors. It will either lockup, crash or freeze my machine. I can eventually get a video completed, but it takes quite a while. I looked up some for pay programs but dont see much out there for Mint. On your download page, I only see Ubuntu downloads. Have you given up on Mint? I found the program easy to use, but would love an answer if you think you have an answer similiar to others. I have plenty of memory but i close all programs before attempting editting. I can see the video card driver looks current, and frankly, cant think of anything else. Thank you.
