openshot doesn't launch on linux mimt 17.1

that simple. tried to load older versions, from the web ... works on ubuntu though ....

As I'm on Linux mint 17.1 until now (and not for a long time since I've reinstalled my manjaro on my htpc for developping correctly),
I've not this problems.
So I suspect a problem either with ffmpeg (or rather with his fork) either with mlt) and then you should follow this FAQ : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/2645 and try firstly to update ffmpeg and try again. If not the problem comes from mlt and you should update it. And all should be resolved. If it is working for me, that should work for you too. You have in this faq the two corresponding links for the both faq(i.e ffmpeg and mlt).
