Openshot crashes while opening a saved project

Asked by Herman Ortega

I have created a time lapse video and exported to DVD format. The video looked great but then I wanted to make a few changes so I tried to open the saved project in openshot by double clicking the icon on the desktop. Openshot would start up and begin to load the saved project but, then the program will grey out and then shut down.

The next thing I tried was to start openshot first then open the saved project but, I had the same results. I put a lot of time into preparing this time lapse video together for a client and hate to think I have to start all over again. Am I doing something wrong?

I am running a 32 bit Intel Core 2 Duo with 5Gb of RAM (of course 32 bit only sees 4 Gb of that) and a 250Gb HDD
The graphics card in a Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2
The OS is Ubuntu 13.04
Openshot version is 1.4.3
Blender version 2.68a

Try the bazar version (aka 1.4.4) by this command :
bzr branch lp:openshot
Go to the bin folder and run openshot file. Try to open your file again after. I'm nearly sure that a patch have been commit for this issue.

I just installed bzr and openshot 1.4.4, but it simply does not open the project saying:
"Ther was an error opening this project file.
Please be sure you open the correct *.osp file."
Better than crashing like it did in version 1.4.3, but... is there any parser to check the broken project with or another way to go on (maybe by just looking at the text file to tell which is the reason it is broken)?
Thx in advance

Here's a workaround meanwhile that has works for me :
1) Open the saved file.
2) When it crashes, Force Quit.
3) Do 1)-2) up to 4 times.
By the fourth time it will open.
It seems to have to populate some changes each time until it gets through.

Openshot 1.4.3 on LinuxMint 32 bit
