There is no way to import directly in Openshot (until now) from a device using firewire connection.

You must use the dvgrab tool (a command line). The positive point is that now, you don't have to make an external operation like it was in the past. You must jsut determine which format you must have (i.e dv2 or raw) and use the magic command line. It is so easy once time you 'll have the adapted command.
