No sound in preview

1) There is no ffplay available on the command line.
2) The video works with melt - but there is no sound. Error message is: [audioresample @ 0x7fabc0087580] Audio sample format conversion failed
3) Here are the details from vlc player about my video:
     video:
     Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)
     Resolution: 1920x1080
     Frame rate: 50
     Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV

     audio:
     Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 )
     Sample rate: 48000 Hz
     Bitrate: 192 kb/s

  4) Yes, I have attached a small video which has no sound using melt.

My system:
  OS: Linux 3.1.0-1.2-desktop x86_64
  System: openSUSE 12.1 (x86_64)
   KDE: 4.7.4 (4.7.4)

Just installed ffmpeg and did a lot of downgrading required by YAST. Now ffplay and melt produce a sound... and OpenShot too. So problem solved. But do not ask me about the details...
