Dumb question what can I use to record an event to edit?

Asked by TAI WONG

I see this is an application to edit an video. What is recommended to record and event to edit with this? Using Linux Mint 12...
I also have an Ubuntu system.

I was using Cheese to record an event. Is OpenShot an editor only?
Does it allow recording an event and allow audio to splice into what
I want filmed?

Openshot is a video editor and he doesn't have a feature for record an event like Cheese. You can splice audio duplicating the video clip and on the second clip, catching the video. Obviously, on the first clip, you must de-active audio.
Here you 'll understand better what is Openshot and what can do it : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/691

Can you help with this problem?
