libx264 is missing at debian squeeze

Asked by Tobias Braeker

Hello,
I am running debian 6.0.6.
I have installed OpenShot 1.1.3 via the software center.
When I want to export a video, I get the error message that libx264 and libmp3lame are missing.
I added debian-backports at the packet sources.
But there are only libx264-120 and libmp3lame0 available.
So, helpless who I am, I installed them with synaptic packet installer.
But it is not working. OpenShot gives the same error message.

What can I do?

I would appreaciate to get help.

Best Regards

Tobias

Hi,
You don't have the good version of FFmpeg for that.
Take a look at this two links even if the second is initially for Ubuntu but packages/names on the screenshot are the same.

Hi Cenwen,
thank you very much for your answere.
I have installed all packages as mentioned in your second link for the medibuntu installation.
Openshot sends still the error message that libx264 and libmp3lame are missing.

Synaptic says: ffmpeg version is 4:0.5.9-1

I looked here:

http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-backports/amd64/ffmpeg/download

There is a version 0.8.3 for download.

But at least I am too stupid to do so. I added the backports source, And I still get the old 0.5 version.

Do you have an idea?

Thank you very much for your time and experience

Tobias

Do you have the multimedia repository activated (i.e. this one that we called in the past Merillat repository) ?
I don't understand why are you using the backports repository.

Hi Cenwen,
thank you very much. I have got it:
I activated the multimedia repository. This was the missing part. Good hint.
Then I had to install an new keyring, because of failure message "No pubkey"

Regarding your question: I used the backports repository to get libavformat-extra-53 ... . Maybe this is encluded in the multimedia repository. I do not know because I used the multimedia repository after the installation of the libraries.

Thanks a lot

I wish you a nice time

Tobias
