Openshot quits when I import a video file

Openshot quits on attempting to import an avi file. The file format is standard DV filmed 720x576 25 fps PAL. In project setup I selected DV/DVD PAL

Also will Openshot ever be able to import Panasonic P2 mxf files?

Forgot to add that I'm running Ubuntu 11.1 and Openshot 1.4.1 (Problem happened with 1.4.0 as well).

For mxf support, ultimately that support comes from ffmpeg. There is a bug logged against ffmpeg/libav for that:

Once it is supported in ffmpeg, then Openshot should be able to support it.

Thanks for the answers. I have managed to convert the .mxf files using mxflib. My problem with Openshot quitting when importing files was caused by a bad Ubuntu installation. All if fixed now and Openshot is working fine.
