OpenShot Video Editor

can't install 1.4 on 9.10

Ubuntu 9.10 no longer supported, so using ppa fails, but download page says I must use that. Is there another way?

You could use the source code package, provided you have satisfied all the required dependencies. But there is a reason 9.10 is not supported - we use elements of GTK that are not supported in the version shipped with 9.10, so certain functions may not work or will give you errors.
