openshot crashes after debian upgrade

a few users of debian and ubuntu have reported to me that after installing version 1.4 they are now no longer able to use it as it closes on them and or comes up with invalid in the preview, even after removing and re installing the same problem persists, and yes i have told these users to remove the .openshot folder too. so any help will be good as i am getting a lot of mails about..ta

It looks like there may be a problem with your install of MLT. Try following the instructions at the link below to debug the installation:

@sneeks - there has been a bug fix applied to the trunk since the release of 1.4 to fix a segmentation fault, see here:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=643562

That might be the issue for some users.
