clicking in audio

Asked by Ronin

After importing several HD 720 AVI files into OpenShot to edit, there is a "clicking" throughout the audio track - this remains even after exporting. Everything else seems to work OK - video looks great - but the persistent click is annoying.

What version of OpenShot and MLT are you running? Also, what OS are your running?

Most likely, this is a problem with either FFmpeg or MLT. Take at a look a this FAQ: https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/983 which will help you determine where the problem is.

A common work-around for this type of problem is to encode your AVI files with a different format / codec, using FFmpeg or another transcoding tool. Thanks and Good luck!

Johnathan,

The problem is it's clicking on first input into the program - though it
plays fine outside of it. Exporting has no different effect.

I checked the FAQ and ran the tests - both melt * ffplay clicked

Input #0, avi, from 'IMGP0301.AVI':
  Metadata:
    creation_time : 2011-04-02 15:10:23
    encoder : PENTAX K-5
  Duration: 00:03:12.99, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 40407 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mjpeg, yuvj420p, 1280x720, 30 tbr, 30 tbn, 30 tbc
    Stream #0.1: Audio: pcm_s16le, 32000 Hz, 1 channels, s16, 512 kb/s

Any other ideas?

Cheers,
Edd

If ffplay also clicks, then this is either an error in the FFmpeg codec, or an error with the encoding of these video files. I would recommend transcoding these videos into another format, and seeing if the clicks persist. Basically, this is not an error with OpenShot, but rather a codec in FFmpeg, or the application which encoded these videos. Thanks and good luck.
