Put trimmed clips back to media list

Asked by Wolfgang

Hi,
my question is connected to very long video clips; i.e. if I take video from a concert or keep recording at a sports event. From the 5-minutes clips I want to use several short pieces located somewhere in the clip. I like to prepare (i.e. define IN and Out and put them back to the media list for later use. Maybe also to apply some adjustments to brightness / color e.t.c.

Like this, one physical media file would appear in the media list several times as a clip referring to different (or overlapping) portions of the clip's timeline.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance
Wolfgang

Thanks for the question! This is not a feature we currently support, but I like the idea. Currently, the IN, OUT, and effects of a clip are not related to the original media file, but just the clip on the timeline. Also, our project files tree does not allow duplicate files. So, this would require a few different changes to OpenShot, to allow for this type of functionality.

Hi Jonathan,
thanks for the answer. Maybe you'll find some time in the future to implement this... Currently I slice down my videos with Openshot first and then import the sliceddown clips which are files on their own now.
