is posible to make a video that keeps alpha channel of png pictures and Were is clip speed control in 1.3?

Asked by caronte

First of all Congratulations about this great effort. I miss the video editor so much since I migrated to Linux. Thanks

I want to make a video that I can insert into a presentation, but I want to give it a different look, so I made it already from PNG Images . Is there a way to keep the transparency in a video? so I can integrate better in slides?

And Where is the video speed control? I see it in manual but I cant find it in the editor.

Thanks in advance.

Javier García Prieto.

Although OpenShot can use PNG images with transparency, layering and mixing them together, and even on top of other video tracks, when OpenShot exports the video, it will no longer maintain the transparency. No video formats that I know of support an alpha channel, and if you export as an image sequence, it will always merge the video tracks on top of a black background, effectively removing the transparency.

As far as speed controls, assuming you are importing these "slides" as PNG images, you can just set the default image length in the OpenShot preferences to 7, 10, 15, 30 seconds (however many seconds makes sense), and add all the slides to your timeline with the "Add to Timeline" menu. Good luck!

Thanks!

Also, the speed tab is only displayed on the clip properties screen for videos. Images and audio files remove the speed tab, since MLT (the underlying library) does not support speeding up or slowing down images and audio.

Thanks for responding so soon, I appreciate very much.

I read that some formats like quicktime indeed supports the transparency but I'm not shure with which codec they can do that, Please think about this as a technical challenge that I'm want to overcome, but thanks anyway.

About the second question, its just that I see in the manual page that you can import a video clip and then after you add to the timeline you can adjust the speed I n order to make it faster or slower . I just find it. It is for already rendered videos only.

Thanks for all. I believe Openshot is fantastic, greatly improved from Cinelerra days and you know I believe every addition that you do its going to be a great success. Congratulations guys!
