export with 1600x1200 resolution?

Asked by Lee Busby

I have been doing timelapse photography with a still camera, so my input source is 1600x1200 jpeg files. I can read them
into Openshot directly using the image sequence import, or pre-encode them to mjpeg at full resolution, using ffmpeg.
I would like to have some export option that preserves the original resolution and aspect ratio, so that I can use Openshot to
produce a "studio master" copy. Is there any way to do this? I might settle for 1280x960, etc., but going all the way down
to DVD resolution throws away a lot of detail.

Anyway, I am grateful for the fine work so far on this program. Openshot 1.2.2 on Xubuntu 10.04 has been very solid for
me, in several hours of work on a rather small and slow machine.

Thank you,
Lee Busby

You need to select a profile / project type that has the correct resolution and aspect ratio, and it should work fine. If you can't find a profile that is exactly what you need, you can create your own profile in the preferences, that is exactly 1600x1200. When you save your project (i.e. Save As...), you can choose the new profile you created. Also, when you export your video, you should find your new profile listed under "All Formats". Good luck!

Thank you, that was a good answer. I had attempted previously to make a custom profile, but somehow never tumbled to the fact that it would show up under "All Formats" in the export menu. (I somehow thought that tag was just a title to the rest of the entries in that particular menu - should have tried clicking on it.)

If it is indeed possible to take full control over what amounts to the ffmpeg options using a profile, it might be good if the Openshot documentation stressed that fact. I would have pushed harder to find the limits of what a profile can do (if any), but the documentation makes them seem like they might be limited. So I gave up too soon. Anyway, thanks once again.
