OpenShot freezes in Ubuntu

Asked by Mihai Cozma

I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit edition and installed OpenShot normally via the software manager. I tried to edit a clip that I have captured (using other software) in the m2t (mpeg2 transport) format (aproximately 7.5 GB of data). At first it worked fined (the playback), but as soon as I started doing operations, OpenShot crashed randomly. I have tried many times. The GUI seems to be functional (sometimes) but the playback freezes. I tried to jump around within the clip to certain sections, the playback froze and the play buttons were doing nothing. Other time I tried to drag and drop a fade effect and the cursor that indicates the current position in the track disapeared and I couldn't get it back. It is basically unusable because it crashes on the most basic stuff.

Any idea what can I do to improve this? I just want to cut a clip to eliminate a few parts, add a title and some transition effects and render it, no big deal really.

Thanks.

Hi,
Have you check all your dependencies ? See here for more explanations :
Could you launch Openshot in a console and could you put the output doing the same thing ? Thanks.
Try to remove the hidden openshot file ?
rm .openshot
And try again.
