Hi,
I have none problem with this format from some videos that i have recording from my Nexus.
You should know exactly what consist your file . For more explanations, See here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=371
The 3gp format is only available with the version of FFmpeg who is in the repository Medibuntu so ckeck if he is present. in your package manager.
You can see easily if you have the 3gp installed in the Preferences (or Ctrl + P) second tab. Normaly, the x264 is installed in the same time.
Thanks

If the video plays too fast, then you are using a profile with a higher frame rate than your material. Try a profile with 15 fps and see if that works better, if that is the frame rate of your 3gp files.

Can you help with this problem?
