I want to store the project file as ascii. I do not see an option for that in Preferences, or anywhere else.

Asked by Ed Averill

I lost a project file because the files became inconsistent with what it expected. There was no way to recover.

I wouldn't care if openshot wasn't otherwise doing a fine job for me.

Having an editable project file would help solve problems like that.

I saw an ascii save option mentioned in someone else's question, so went looking for it. I don't find it.

Was running 1.1.0 on Suse 11.2. Now I am running 1.2.2 from the tar.gz . under Pydev in Eclipse

I don't know if simple ascii or XML would be the best answer for the *.osp, but I do think it should be editable -- and by default, not by a hidden selection.

It looks like 1.2.2 is putting more effort into handling *.osp errors, which is good.

Thanks,

In 1.2 ASCII became the default & only option, so the preferences item to switch between Binary & ASCII was removed. If you're still seeing it saved as a binary file in 1.2.2, then maybe you need to delete your settings file (in ~/.openshot).

Yes, I found the file config.xml and the entry for the binary preference in it.

Thanks! Other than the confusion of the persisting settings, I think this is a good direction.
