How to trim blank footage at the end of output video?

Asked by shirdi.saidasan@gmail.com

I had created a video from openshot.
it combines four separate clips from diffenrent .vob files.

it took very long to output.

when i opened it in vlc player it was correct except
that some ten minutes of blank screen comes after
all my clip runtime.
since i have to upload it into youtube, i want to trim
that end portion of blank screen running for ten minutes.

how to do that in linux.
which app is required.

this is also can be taken as a bug of open shot.

Hi,
 In Openshot simply.
A trick when you put several files for not having blank/white part between each piece. Use the play head for having a perfect synchronization at the end of the first file (for sample). Put the second file on the second track and it will be snap automatically near the play head. check with the preview and repeat this operation each time that you must do.
Another tip for remove some part, always with the play head. Go to the piece that you want to remove, stop it; use the keyboard C and the file is cutting exactly where was the play head at this moment.
Simple but terrible efficient.

Please understand my problem. I did all your proposed ideas myself.
it perfectly synchronised between clips. but unnecessarily added a blank screen running for 10 minutes at the end.

my problem is not blank video between clips.

My problem is blank running video appended at the end by the program.

it is ok for me. but i want to cut off that end portion using some other program.
what program i can use.

This could be a bug of openshot.

It is the first time that i have this feedback on this problem. A idea. How do you choose the length of the project ? Do you let the length by default, do you choose with more or less precision the length of your 4 files that you have additional, another possibility ? what is the total length of your file ?

I have exactly the same problem.
I added a few movies of footage (longest 10 minutes), cut them into pieces, ending up with a 30 seconds satisfying result.
But when I export it, there are 60 seconds of useless blank at the end.
I think this happen when you leave the cursor towards the end (which happens when you click "Play" and don't stop it just at the end of the real content.

This doesn't help me neither :

python-mlt version 0.9.03 already installed.

Following the above step gives me this:

Asked following question before coming here:

Edited out, export = still there

    OpenShot Video Editor
      Question #254458

Asked by ptosis 22 minutes ago

This is not my first video editing program but I just can not figure out how to get rid of this problem:
1)Import video file and place on timeline.
2) I edit out the begining part, and end part for an excerpt.
3) put clip as far as it can go to the left - yet it doesn't say 0:0:0:0: but the original point of where excerpt began.
4) export and I get the whole thing. Huge amounts of blank screen and no audio on the beginning before excerpt plays.
5) take a little slice from the start - keep it to trick out the program and then do my editing as above so that I won't have huge amount of time in blank silence. So now I have the blank silence at the end.

Please help me.

Oh OK. So what I did to fix this was simply edit out the blank silence at the end on the next editing cycle. Clunky but works.

Can you help with this problem?
