Some video clips are full of horizontal lines while and after being exported to mpeg2. Kinos export is better quality.

Project is a fairly simple video of my grandsons 1st year. 1st birthday is 7/31/10. Opening of the video is a composite of a title page and three picture-in-picture mini clips that are arranged at the bottom of the title page. Remainder of the video is just a series of clips with title pages at the beginning of each clip. This is easier seen than explained.

Operating system is Linux Mint 9. OpenShot is version 1.1.3. I downloaded the binary by amending software sources and using the apt system.

Processor is Intel(R) Dual Core CPU E2200 @ 2.20 GHz 1200.00MHz

The lines in one of my clips appear to have a deinterlacing issue. When deinterlacing is applied as an effect, OpenShot shuts down. When deinterlacing is done in Kino on the clip in question, none of the options help

Memory is 2 gigs - there are two slots for memory on the motherboard. it is maxed out with 2 1-gig modules of DDR2 PC2-5300 240-pin DIMM. Hard Drive is ATA ST3500630AS 500 gig. Monitor resolution is 1280 x 1024 pixels. CD and DVD drive - PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-212D. Audio Adapter - HDA-Intel - HDA Intel. BIOS 7/20/07 Vendor is American Megatrends Inc. (www.ami.com) version 0205. Motherboard - ASUSTeK Computer INC. (SEAGATE, www.seagate.com Name P5GC-MX.

Camera is a JVC camcorder with a 20 gig hard drive. Each scene is stored as a .mod file on the camcorder, but they are easily copied to my computer hard drive and loaded as clips on OpenSpot. They play back much better on Totem than they do while editing or exporting from OpenShot.

Other than the lines in some of the clips and the inability to apply the deinterlace effect on OpenShot, I love the program - easy to understand and very well explained in the manual.

Any ideas? Thanks Steve V 7/25/10
