Import from Remote location

Asked by Frank

Is it possible to import m2ts or any files from a remote location? IE a NAS? I want to be able to convert directly from my NAS to a local file on the fly but instead have to copy the source files to my machine, then convert/compress and delete the local m2ts files.

The "File > Import files" window doesn't show the smb share on the "Places" shortcut. Typing the address manually or dragging and dropping the files also doesn't work, "Project Files" in Openshot remains blank.

Here are my logs:

Process no longer exists: 1742. Creating new pid lock file.
A new frmMain has been created

Hi,
Never tested but if you can open Nautilus and if your folder is seen in Nautilus, i don't see none reason why it will different of a file data. If you connect only with ftp at your nas, i don't know.
For one time the output of the console doesn't give us some informations.
Hum convert mt2s data on-the-fly, i not sure that work under if you have a power configuration and a big HD.

ah i don't read the post correctly. I suppose that you use Samba like protocol ?
I don't know how to use it but perhaps with a little more explanations, it will be less weird.

I don´t have any problems with files on my Samba shares, I can import and export to the share just fine. But you have to manually mount Samba shares, otherwise they don´t show up in Nautilus (or the file-import window). For example like this:

sudo mount -t cifs //tcp-name-of-server/sharename /media/data -o user=username

Alternatively, you can try to look for the hidden folder .gvfs in your home folder (press CTRL-H in the import-window to show hidden files/folders).

Can you help with this problem?
