Timeline waveform

Asked by CinemaScope

My shooting situation often includes recording separate sound on a digital recorder and when editing, the camcorder sound is used as a guide track. The separate sound track is easily to rough sync to the guide sound because of a visual comparison of the two waveforms on the timeline (fine sync is done by moving back or forth by single frames and listen to the result). My question is, will there be an option to display a wavefrom for sound tracks on the OpenShot timeline? For instance, if I have two versions of the same video clip on the timeline, turn off sound for one (image) and turn off image visibility on the other (for sound), it would be great if in turning off the image visibility of a video clip, that clip would then display a waveform. The ability to see waveforms on the timeline greatly speeds up the ability to visually sync up tracks. Thanks.

We do plan on implementing waveforms in the future, but the current version does not support them yet. Hopefully we'll get to this soon. =) Thanks!

Any progress on this, I cannot find a waveform in today's version, just installed on Ubuntu 14.04. Then again, that version claims copyright 2009, so perhaps this is a project nobody is working on?

Please advise, this is a deal-breaker for my purposes, and I've given up on a number of other video editors already, so I'm really hoping this is the one that will actually work :)

LMK?
Thanks!

Hi,
That works fine on the Openshot 2.0 QT version currently in developing.
