Openshot on Gentoo

Asked by SchlauFuchs

I tried to install Openshot on Gentoo from the source tarball. The installation worked without trouble, a openshot shortcut appeared in the gnome menu.

When executing openshot on console it fails to start with following message:

--------------------------------
   OpenShot (version 1.0.0)
--------------------------------
*** ERROR: MLT Python bindings failed to import ***
*** ERROR: MLT Python bindings failed to import ***
-------------------------------------------------------
Error: OpenShot has not been installed in the Python path.
(Both the site-packages and /usr/share/openshot folders were checked)

Use the following command to install OpenShot:
  $ sudo python setup.py install

Of course I did so and the second installation output was

Execution path: /usr/src/openshot-1.0.0/setup.py
running install
running build
running build_py
running build_scripts
running install_lib
running install_scripts
changing mode of /usr/bin/openshot to 755
running install_data
running install_egg_info
Removing /usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/openshot-1.0.0-py2.6.egg-info
Writing /usr/lib64/python2.6/site-packages/openshot-1.0.0-py2.6.egg-info
Updating the Shared MIME-Info database cache.
Updating the mime.types database
Failed to update.
Updating the .desktop file database.

It still doesnt start.

How to fix?

Hi!

you need to emerge mlt.

Or use ebuilds from here together with local portage overlay http://bugs.gentoo.org/283673

Can you help with this problem?
