Starting page numbers on page 2

Asked by Aaron Whitehouse

How do I have page numbers on all but the first page?

The first page is a title page thing and I want the page numbers in the header starting as 2 on page 2. I read "Page Numbers" in the help file but it didn't shed any light on the issue.

Thanks!

Create a Page Style which does not have Page number in the footer or footer at all, then change it's Next style to set your actual page style.

Steps:
a) Go to the first page
b) Active style & Format : Format/Styles and Formatting or F11
c) Change to Page Style
d) Assign First Page (Double Click)

The better way is to assign This Style to the Heading Style which is used as the title on every first caption page.
Steps:
a) Active style & Format : Format/Styles and Formatting or F11
b) Look for the Caption heading Style
c) Modify
d) Select Text Flow tab
e) Break, Insert page before with style

You may create First Book Page and First Caption Page

Set the first paragraph on the 2nd page, ussually an header, to break with Style and assign the page number to 2

Good look
