Hi

How is possible under OpenERP 7.0 to add an Attachment to a project Task? What modules must be installed and do they work under OpenERP 7.0 installed on Windows?

best regards

Marco,

You need to install the "Document Management System" module.

Then you will get the attachments drop down as shown in the image from the post from Serpent Consulting.

Regards,
Patrick.

Hi Patrick

Thank you for your feedback.

I already tried this a few nightly releases of the OpenERP 7.0 edition ago but have the problem, that when I want to attach a document the loads forever and I have to quit the loading task manually.

I can browse the document and select it but it gets never loaded into OpenERP. Please have a loot at the attached picture.

I'm using:

OS: Windows 2012
Browser: Firefox
OpenERP version 7.0-20130216-002451

Seems, that I cannot add a picture here. I'm going to create a bug report.

You use the German interface? Overwrite your translations of your instance and it will work - was an error in the translation file fixed 2 weeks ago

Hi Felix

Thank you for your feedback. I did as you recommended and added the German language again (overwrite). Currently I have added German and English but use English in my Openerp Profile.

Please find a screenshot and a logfile here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openobject-server/+bug/1127193

Please post the link in html - I'm sure that it belongs to your translation file - because it works without any problem! In German AND in english - please have a look at the screenshot to guarantee the success of fixing - and restart the service after regenerating the language files.

Hi Felix

Thank you for your support. I tried it several times.

- restarted the service every time after reloading (and Overwriting) the German translation
- tried with the Admin account
- tried different files (for example test.txt)
- fiinaly deleted the German translation, restarted the service but still no success.

I must be missing something. I'm going now to create a new database and then tray it again.

Short Version:

- I created a new database and installed the modules "Project management" and "Document Management System".
- I created a new Projekt and withing this project one task.

I could successfully add two text files and two word files to this new task but it fails if I try to add pdf-documents (tried several different small ones).

I will now add the now logs and some screen shots to the created bug report.

Felix

Can you confirm this behavior on your side with pdf-files?

Marco, you need to install poppler-utils. It is the missing pdf-indexer that breaks your system.

On second thoughts, that does not solve all problems. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/openobject-addons/+bug/1094423

Hi Stefan

Thank you for your help. It seems, that the poppler-utils are only available as source for linux based systems. I will have a look at this and going to read the provided link now.

Maybe you can explain me why this tools are needed?

Using the new created test DB I could add .exe. .dll, , docx files without problems.

Would be great if we getting the "Document Management System" module to work with OpenERP on Windows because to my mind this functionality is really needed in OpenERP.

I just restarted the service again but started this time adding a word document on the real DB and that worked :-) Just a matter of sequence...

From this package, OpenERP uses the pdf indexer to create a text representation of the document so that you can search the documents' contents.

Of course, OpenERP should fail gracefully if this utility is missing...

Stefan, thank you for your explanation. I would also be happy to be able to add PDF-Documents without the possibility to search withing this documents over the indexer.

I have just changed the title of the bug report to "OpenERP 7.0 -Cannot add PDF-Document to Project Task".

Hi Stefan

Thank you again for your support. It works now for me. I added a short "how to" to the created bug report. In my case your hint concerning the "Xpdf tools" solved my problem.

Marco
