openerp upgrade 6.1.1

Asked by Milan Tribuson

What is the easiest way to upgrade/update openerp server. I've installed OpenERP 6.1.1 from debian package and i would like to upgrade/update it to the newest version. Can I just download the new debian package and simply install it and that's it?

You can find nightly debs at http://nightly.openerp.com/6.1/nightly/deb/, but I don't know the exact update procedure, or to what extend they are compatible with your specific distro.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this?

I know that, I've installed it from the nightly build some time ago. But now I would like to update it to the latest release...

Maybe I should move this question to OpenERP Server...

Milan,

As far as the minor versions are concerned, Its totally risk free to update the server as OpenERP takes enough care for any regression or functionality-breaks.

Just to test, copy your current system to another directory and try testing there with updated code.

Thanks.
