Buildout planned?

Asked by Francois Degrave

Hi guys!

In order to facilitate the installation of OpenERP, is there any plan to create a buildout recipe, for one of the future versions?

Thanks!

Hi,

Christophe Combelles created a buildout recipe for OpenERP:

http://pypi.python.org/pypi/anybox.recipe.openerp/

Cheers,
Stefan.

anyway, it's the best and easiest way to distribute python (not only python, btw) software

Zope, Plone, Django and other famous python software use buildout and eggs

OpenERP should follow them

Hi François,

We don't plan to provide a buildout right now. We may consider it in the future but we have more important things to do first. I think in particular to:
- tighten our setup.py files
- make it easier for someone to write its own statup script (the openerp-server executable)

But as others pointed out, the community seems to be working on it.

Ok, thank you for the pointers; I still hope I'll see an "official" recipe appear some day :-)
