Submitting new code - Need guidance
Hi,
I'm currently working on a custom information management system using OpenObject as a framework. The project needs features that are not yet implemented in OpenObject, so I will program them myself.
For instance, I already developed a simple, yet very useful, new feature to export reports with a single custom XSL transform. Provided a proper XSL stylesheet, this feature allows for the generation of any reports in any XML sub-language (for example, in my project, it produces WordML, MS Word 2003 native XML format). For now, it seems to work well, but I did not test it thoroughly because I don't have an extensive knowledge of OpenObject internal architecture.
I'm also developing these other new features:
- Write lock capability during form edition to prevent inconsistent concurrent updates.
- Field-level access control.
- Cross-language search capability.
- Translation icon ('flag') highlight when field content has translation(s).
Since I would like to get quickly on track, I'm asking if somebody could brief me on OpenObject's core architecture regarding the features I'm planning. Any help to kick-start the development process will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
